I think that must be one of Dercum's rules. Having a good day? SO HAPPY that you feel good and have energy? Try to get as much done as possible and go to bed happy. Well, guess what? Dercum doesn't like that!
I went to Indy Sat. on a shopping mission. Looking for a specific thing. We couldn't find it so we made many extra stops and the day ended later than usual. I was enjoying the sun and the friendship and was pleased that I had very little pain all day. Until Sunday.... I woke up with pain in just about all parts of my body! Didn't want to move - I didn't even get dressed until 2 p.m.! I slept late but that didn't help. I took it easy all day. I guess that helped because after another 10 or so hours of sleep last night I felt better today. Not good - just better than yesterday.
That dang Dercum!!!

You know that look?
You know that look you get when someone doesn't believe you? Oh, I know you do if you have Dercum's Disease! We've seen that one WAY too many times!
Told an old friend today that I am working less hours on FMLA and she gave me THAT LOOK. The "I don't believe you" look. Doesn't matter that my doctor who checks my pain levels every visit can tell that I am in more pain. Doesn't seem to matter what I've told her about it. No matter what - as soon as I talk about pain I get THE LOOK.
How do you feal with that? I don't know. I wish I did.

Day one at reduced hours
Thank God for my DD doc!
I'm working reduced hours for the rest of the year. I've been strugging - pain, fatigue.... My body was continuing to fail as I continued to push it. So two days ago we talked and he asked questions and he observed (though I don't know what exactly!) and he agreed.
It was so odd to get up this morning and not feel pressured to push to get ready for work. There was also a great relief but I kept feeling like I was late and needed to get moving. I still took a nap when I got home but it did make it a bit easier.
Thanks, Doc!

Is it a bug bite or a Dercum's lump?
So this chick with Dercum's Disease has been itchy lately. I've been pulling out the anti-itch ointment a lot. I've discovered one way to tell the difference between a bug bite and a new lump forming.... A bug bite stops itching when you put the ointment on it. Those dang DD lumps just drive you mad!
